Day Rooms and Layover Stays at Montreal Airport

A long daytime stop at Montréal-Trudeau leaves you with three options: terminal seating, a lounge, or a hotel room used for the day. This guide covers the third, and when it is worth it.

The in-terminal choice

The Marriott Montreal Airport In-Terminal Hotel is connected to the terminal, so the transfer is a walk. The hotel promotes layover stays and offers guaranteed early check-in and late check-out arranged when you book. A five-hour stop is enough time to use the spa, the pool (open from 6:00 am) or the 24-hour gym. Ask the hotel directly about daytime arrangements for your specific flight times; no standing day-use tariff is published.

Shuttle hotels for longer stops

When the layover spans most of a day, the Dorval hotels are an option. The Sheraton Montreal Airport Hotel runs a free 24-hour shuttle every 30 minutes from YUL Door 8. The Fairfield Inn & Suites is under a kilometre away and includes a hot breakfast if your stop starts early. The Aloft has a grab-and-go counter open 24 hours.

Allow for the shuttle both ways plus security re-screening: on a six-hour layover at a shuttle hotel, expect roughly four hours in the room.

When a lounge is enough

For stops under about four hours, a lounge with showers is usually cheaper; see showers and lounges at YUL. There are no sleep pods or nap suites in the terminal (details here).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a day room at Montreal Airport?

No YUL hotel publishes a standing day-use rate, but the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel promotes layover stays with guaranteed early check-in or late check-out arranged at booking, and the Dorval shuttle hotels will often accommodate daytime arrivals when occupancy allows. Contact the hotel directly with your flight times before booking.

Is a day room worth it for a YUL layover?

For layovers of six hours or more, usually yes: a room gives you a bed, a shower and quiet, and you pay the overnight rate for daytime use. For shorter stops, a lounge with showers may be enough.

Which hotel is fastest to reach for a layover?

The Marriott Montreal Airport In-Terminal Hotel, connected to the U.S. departures terminal: there is no shuttle wait in either direction. Of the shuttle hotels, the Sheraton runs every 30 minutes around the clock and the ride takes minutes.
